Voice Input
Hands-free query entry for multitasking professionals
Use Voice Input to speak a query and have it transcribed into the query box. This is useful when you want to move quickly or keep your hands on the keyboard less.
Quick Start
- Press
T(or click the microphone icon) to start recording. - Speak your query.
- Press
Tagain to stop and transcribe. - Press
R(orEnter) to run it.
The transcript is inserted at your cursor position in the query input.

Where You Can Use Voice Input
Voice input is available anywhere you see a text input with a microphone icon. In practice, that means you can use it in the same places you’d normally type a query or instruction.
- NewBizBot search queries: On the main NewBizBot research experience, use voice input directly in the query box to dictate a search and then run it immediately.
- NewBizBot Grid search: In the Grid experience, voice input is supported in the search/query input so you can kick off work without switching contexts.
- Prompt customization: In prompt configuration and customization flows, you can use voice input in supported text fields (the ones that show a microphone icon) to dictate changes instead of typing them.
Tips for Better Transcripts
- Speak at a natural pace in a quiet environment, since background noise is the most common cause of transcription errors.
- If you’re in a noisy setting, using earbuds or a headset microphone close to your mouth usually improves accuracy.
- Pause briefly between sections of your request (for example: “company overview… then recent acquisitions”) so the transcript keeps the structure you intended.
- Review the transcript before you run the query, especially for proper nouns, company names, and numbers.
If you want a simple pattern that works well, say your request as one clear sentence, then add one follow-up constraint (for example: “Research Stripe’s recent product launches, and include sources from the last 12 months.”).
When Voice Input Is Not Ideal
- If you’re providing a long list of entities (more than ~5), typing or pasting is usually faster and more accurate.
- If your query is highly structured and depends on punctuation or exact formatting, typing helps preserve the structure.
- If exact spelling matters (especially for uncommon names), voice input can be less reliable, so it’s best to type or carefully edit the transcript first.
Troubleshooting
No microphone prompt / nothing records? Check your browser’s microphone permissions for this site. If you previously denied access, you’ll need to re-enable it in Site Settings (look for the camera/microphone icon in the address bar).
Waveform not appearing? If you see the recording state but no waveform, try refreshing the page. Some browsers require a reload after you grant microphone permission.
Poor transcription quality? Ensure you're in a quiet environment and speaking clearly. If background noise is unavoidable, consider using headphones with a built-in microphone positioned closer to your mouth.
Transcription taking too long? Long recordings (over 30 seconds) take proportionally longer to transcribe. For very long queries, consider breaking them into shorter recordings or typing part of the query.
Supported browsers: Voice input works best in Chrome, Edge, and Safari (latest versions). Firefox may have limited support for some recording formats, so behavior can vary.
